Riverdale School Website

Our school website has changed!  It has a lot of important information and we need to know our way around the site.

For shared reading this week we will be finding out -

1) How can we email Mrs Mercer and the other teachers?
2) What are the dates of our holidays this year?
3)  What are some of the important information we need to know as students?
4)  Where is the Duathalon track.

Gardening Time!

We are so lucky in Simply Magic Team.  We get to look after the school garden.

Today we planted vegetables and some flowers which will bloom by winter.

We each had a turn.  We had to dig a small hole, put the seedling in the hole and then move the dirt around the seedling and press it down firmly.  LC7 planted bok choy, parsley and some lettuces.

We can't wait to eat our vegetables.

Tangaroa's Gift

On Thursday Mrs Mercer read us the story of Tangaroa's Gift.

After we read the story we discussed the key messages.  Here are some of our discoveries and wonderings.

To always be careful of what you say and care for people so they can be happy.  Nathanial

You have to be nice to one another so you don't make people sad.  The Paua was even beautiful when it didnt have the coat on, so the sea creatures didn't have to be mean.  Kyla

Treat people the way you want to be treated.  Tessa

With his new coat on it looks really pretty, but it was still making him really, really sad.  Ashton.

He looked prettier with the coat on and they shouldn't be mean, the crab could get a special shell like the paua.  Jas

We have to be kind to people so that we have nice things  and not have to hide them inside ourselves.  Josh.

Here is a retelling of the story from another school to share

First Day Photos

We had a great, fun first day.  We worked well in groups and also spent time getting to know our learning partners as well as everyone else.

Well done everyone!

Welcome to 2013!

Hi, Tena Koe!

Welcome to the LC7 class blog.

I hope you all had a great first day!  Watch this space to see what we have been learning.
