Choir at Chiswick Park

Today I am going to the old peoples' place.  I am going to sing in the choir.  I am going on a bus.  We are having lunch in Piako One because Miss Bryant told us to meet in the zoo.  I'm not having a pizza order today because I will miss the bus.  That would be sad.  Tears will fall out of my eyes and make me sad.

So I am going to have a ham sandwich.

We spent a very worthwhile morning down at Waitoetoe Park with Don and Heather Scott and Katrina, mulching the trees we grew in July.  There were a lot of weeds growing around them!

Here is a lovely piece of character writing by Isabel.

Phoebe is my bestest friend ever.  She has green eyes and hair that grows as long as her shoulders.  Phoebe lives in Wedgewood Grove.  She has a big cul de sac that she bikes around.  She goes to Riverdale School.  Phoebe is seven years old.

She has ear-rings, but she does not wear them that much.  Phoebe is my BFF!!! She is my friend because.....she is thoughtful and kind.  She helps me play with her when I have no one to play with.  She is always thrilled to see me.  She is always hilarious.  I am never lonely because of her!

Te Awamutu
Te Awamutu is fun because I got to stay till Monday, then Tuesday.  In the next couple of weeks I go back up there.  One day when we went back to my home, someone stole my TV and the radio and the garage door was open.  They took the blue-ray player.  They took the gas bottle.  They got a spade and smashed the window.

I'm going to live in Hamilton. Dad's medals the TV cost $1,000 dollars.  Now I am living at my grandma's house till I live up in Hamilton or Foxton or Te Awamutu, but Cambridge is expensive.  If we stay at my grandma's house in Foxton, we get to see and help feed the lambs only if we we eat all our tea and breakfast!

Max (Auntie Kathryn's old sheep)is going up the road to be lamb chops.  Grandma needs to feed the horse a little more.

Noah wrote this argument as part of our writing programme this week.

I think that we should wear a school uniform. Why?

Firstly, if there was a fire in the school, the teachers might get mixed up and somebody might get left in the school.

Secondly you would have so many arguments in the morning, that when you choose your clothes, school would be finished for the day.

Thirdly, it's very nice because it's very smart.

Finally, it's a "Must do!"  So, get one now!!!

Argument Writing.  We have been learning to write arguments in writing.  Here is Isabel's opinion and reasons on the topic "Should Children Go to School?"

I believe that children should go to school because it is a very good place to learn to write, read and do maths.  So I think it would be a very good idea to go.

Firstly, if you didn't go to school, you would be very mean and stubborn and would not have any friends.

Secondly, if you didn't go to school, you would not be good at maths or writing or reading.

Lastly, you would not be able to get along with other people.

So I believe that you should go to school.

By Isabel Harper.

Isabel has provided a clear introduction which states her opinion, and has provided three reasons, beginning with time connectives, finishing with a concluding statement.  Well done Isabel!!!

Lucas has also written a well organised argument on the same topic, with three good reasons and time connectives.  His conclusion restates his point of view and has a call to action!!!

Should Children Go To School?

I strongly believe that every child in New Zealand should go to school.  It is a good start to a child's adult life because you learn to be independent.

Firstly, you learn to be nice, friendly, kind and helpful.

Secondly, it develops your brain, but how does it develop your brains?  Because you learn e.g. writing, maths and literacy.

Lastly, school is an adventure, e,.g., there is a bike track, a swimming pool and a playground.

You learn to be social, it develops your brain and school is an adventure.  Do it now!!!

Zero Waste
Our latest Inquiry is "Zero Waste".  The children are going to make a pen/pencil container using waste materials from home.  I want them to be creative in their ideas.  Here are two links to sites to stimulate ideas.

The Super Elephant Rescue
"Go faster!" said the human girl to the turtle.  "No, never."  replied the turtle.  Along came super big elephant.  The super elephant swiped the girl off the edge of the turtle.  There she goes in the deep flood.  "Ha!  Ha!  Ha!".

She saw a white dolphin and yelled "Help!  Help!"  The dolphin picked her up.  The elephant laughed and chuckled so much that he dropped into the water, so the elephant and the girl had to climb up out of the water.

They said "Sorry." to each other and carried on their long adventure.

LC 7 is hosting the School Assembly this Thursday at 12 30.  We are going to tell the legend of Okatia, which explains how the Manawatu River came to be.  Here is a picture of the bushTrey drew at home. If you look hard, you will find a kereru sitting there.
He is a talented artist.
Some of us are losing our front teeth!  What cute smiles we have!!!

Most of us have grown some lawnseed in a yoghurt container with our face on.  This reminds us that we are Pae Ake, where we grow with learning.
